Braille Scanner Concept

I find this concept design really interesting, it utilizes new and existing technology in a unique way. Which in time may help improve the lives of blind people. The idea is that the user would scan the words by running the ring device over the page as they would normally on a braille page. The device would then convert the image to braille dots. This would allow blind people to read normal books or magazines without the need for braille. With the Bluetooth device attached the letters could be turned into sound. Obviously there are still barriers to this idea, braille is read by running your fingers over the bumps so would it be felt the same if pressed upward? Could electronic pulses be added instead? It will be something to keep an eye out for in the near future. Here are some links to similar technologies being developed
